Breaking Free with Lindsay
Episode 54 - 5 Themes From My Podcast Guests That Will Change Your Life
I've had the privilege of interviewing so many guests this year who have shared their stories of breaking free in various aspects of life: from overcoming health challenges, leaving a well paying job, overcoming grief, transforming their relationships, and following their dreams.
As I've interviewed all of these guests, several themes have emerged - keys to escaping the "stuck" and following their desires.
I will share 5 of these themes in this episode.
Enjoy!

I am just over 1 year into the breaking free with lindsay podcast and I want to share with you the top 5 lessons I’ve learned from ALL of the guests I’ve interviewed.
Before I do that however, I want to say a massive thank you for being here. It means so much to me that you’re listening and when I hear your personal stories of how a particular episode has impacted you, it fills my heart and encourages me to keep going.
Creating a podcast like this takes a massive amount of effort and commitment, and to be honest, when I started this last November, it felt like a calling – a passion project I HAD to do because my intuition was nudging me. And I had no idea where it was going.
I’ve had the opportunity to interview “experts” and also every day regular people – all of whom have shared stories of transformation, stories of how they’ve broken free.
Whether thats from a chronic health issue, out of the typical 9 to 5 world, transforming their marriage, recovering from failed business, working through grief, or even how to let go of a child.
I’ve shared a lot of laughs and there have also been tears.
These stories have touched me deeply and I’m grateful I get to have these conversations.
It’s shown me that no matter what our circumstances, it’s possible to break free from that stuck feeling and create the life and version of yourself you desire.
Throughout all of the interviews, there have been common themes that have emerged. Themes that are worth highlighting because they are really the golden keys to unlocking your dreams and your greatest potential.
I want to share 5 of those themes with you today as we close out 2024 and head into a brand new year, a brand new era (if you’re into astrology, you know what I’m talking about).
The first is LOVE YOURSELF.
It’s so easy to be critical of ourselves, to notice every aspect of our life we’re falling short, where we screwed up, how we’re not perfect.
We’re comparing ourselves to THE PERFECT PERSON in our heads ALL the time. Yet that perfect person doesn’t exist.
Loving ourselves, as we are, imperfections and all is the greatest gift we can give ourselves.
It opens our hearts. It gives us more compassion toward others. And no matter what is going on in our lives, everything feels better when we’re surrounded by love – and we can actually give this to ourselves.
Be gentle with yourself. Show yourself compassion. Talk lovingly to yourself as if you would your son or daughter or best friend.
Love yourself – you are perfect as you are.
The second is BELIEVE YOU’RE WORTHY.
This goes hand in hand with loving yourself. Love and worthiness is so intertwined and they are also different.
When it comes to making any changes in your life, you have to believe you are worthy of those changes – worthy of good health, worthy of being treated well in relationships, worthy of people paying you money for the value you give them, worthy of being in the spotlight and taking up space.
So many of us fear being SEEN yet it’s the thing we want the MOST.
Trust that you are worthy of everything you desire, and start believing it.
The third is to SHINE BRIGHT.
Once you love yourself and know that you are worthy, give yourself permission to shine bright.
You are a beautiful individual with special gifts that the world needs. AND only YOU can deliver.
While it may not be obvious to you at this particular moment as to what those gifts are, they exist within you. And they’re dying to come out.
So many of us have been taught to stay small, not speak up, or go along to get along, to put others first.
But the BEST way to uplift others is to shine bright.
When you are the most authentic, unapologetic version of yourself you create this beautiful beacon that shines the light for others.
You light the way for them.
Literally by BEING YOU, you show them how to be themselves.
Don’t be afraid to shine brightly and take up space. The world needs you.
The fourth is to TRUST YOURSELF.
Trust yourself. Trust your intuition. ABOVE ALL ELSE.
Above everyone else’s opinions.
Above what you “should be” doing.
Above what makes sense.
We each have a powerful inner guidance system, and it’s not always clear why it’s telling us what it’s telling us. BUT, it never steers you wrong.
I have had countless personal experiences with this, and so many of my guests didn’t understand exactly why they were pulled in certain directions, but their intuition was always steering them in the right direction.
Trust yourself. Always.
The fifth is STOP HUSTLING.
The number of women I’ve talked to who have been in that go go go, do do do mindset and thrown in the towel is actually quite surprising.
And yet not surprising based on what I understand now about women.
Life, relationship, parenting, making money… it doesn’t have to be hard.
It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.
You don’t have to be sprinting through life.
And if you are… chances are, you’re doing this from a “lack” state.
You’re doing it because of your conditioning.
If you achieve X then (and only then) will you be worthy of Y (love, money, appreciation, etc.)
We aren’t meant to do it all. Especially as women.
Just because you’re capable of doing it all, doesn’t mean you should.
When you can let go of the “shoulds”, you get to relax.
You get to let go of what’s not serving you and everything becomes easier. It even becomes easier to make more money, which seems to fly in the face of what so many of us have been taught.
Stop hustling. Life isn’t meant to be hard.
There you have it. 5 themes from all of the interviews I’ve done this year.
Love yourself.
Belief you are worthy.
Shine bright.
Trust yourself.
Stop hustling.
